  Educational Leadership and Management (2 credits)

  The course is designed to provide participants with information on trends emphasizing teachers' need to extend their sphere of influence beyond the classroom and into schoolwide leadership activities. The course covers the definitions of teacher leadership, purpose, roles, and responsibilities. It also includes activities to help teachers create supportive conditions for teacher leadership and help them understand ways of cultivating dispositions.

• Teaching Methods and Materials (2 credits)

  This course is developed to help teachers understand the basic concepts of teaching and learning and apply these theories in classrooms. The course covers different teaching methods for various classroom situations, such as individual differences of learners, availability of instructional aids, and size of the classrooms. It also mentions the characteristics of effective teachers and the teacher's competency standard framework (TCSF) jointly developed by the Myanmar Ministry of Education and UNESCO.

  Instruction Design and Technology (2 credits)

  The course is for K-12 teachers who want a broad practical course in integrating emerging technologies into their classrooms. This course will help teachers engage learners with each other, the course contents, and instructions. It also assists teachers in practicing the use of productivity tools, educational software, and web-based technologies to improve their teaching and learning.

  Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Education (2 credits)

  This course offers a comprehensive understanding of critical issues in equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEI) within Myanmar's K-12 education system. Students will compare DEI practices between American and Myanmar schools, examining the unique challenges and approaches in each context. The course will address diversity issues related to the economy, education, culture, and religion. Additionally, students will explore structural, organizational, and systemic strategies for promoting DEI in educational settings.

• This course explores the psychological principles underlying effective educational practices. Students will analyze key theories and experiments in psychology, focusing on areas such as motivation, learning, thinking, and problem-solving. The course also delves into self-regulation and the social context of education, providing a comprehensive understanding of how psychological factors influence teaching and learning. Through constructive analysis, students will gain insights into the foundational elements that drive educational success.

  This course examines how relationships among teachers, families, and communities impact children's learning and school adjustment. It provides both theoretical and empirical perspectives on the roles of teachers, parents, and community agencies in supporting education. Students will explore models and methods for fostering positive interactions among teachers, parents, and students. Additionally, the course highlights various resources available to support children's education within their families and communities.

Diploma in Child Psychology, Education, and Development (CPED)

  Psychology of Teaching and Learning (2 credits)

  This course provides an in-depth exploration of the psychological processes involved in education. Students will study how learners acquire knowledge and the psychological factors that influence academic achievement. The curriculum covers various learning theories, cognitive processes, and motivational strategies essential for creating effective teaching environments. By understanding the inner workings of the learning mind, educators can tailor their instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of their students.

• Child and Adolescent Development (2 credits)

  This course examines the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of children from infancy through adolescence. Students will explore age-related developmental milestones and the various factors—biological, environmental, and social—that shape a young person's growth. The course emphasizes understanding the transition from childhood to adolescence, helping educators and caregivers provide developmentally appropriate support and intervention at every stage of a student's life.

  This course explores the intersection of social behavior and the educational environment. It focuses on how social interactions, group dynamics, and cultural contexts influence individual learning and classroom behavior. Key topics include teacher-student relationships, peer influence, social identity, and conflict resolution within the classroom. Students will learn practical strategies for managing social dynamics to foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative learning atmosphere.

  Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA)

  This course prepares educators to master the complexities of the GED RLA exam, focusing on reading comprehension of informational and literary texts, as well as the mechanics of writing evidence-based arguments. Participants will learn how to guide students in constructing high-scoring extended responses and improving grammatical precision within the context of American educational standards.

• Mathematical Reasoning

  Designed for future GED math instructors, this module covers the pedagogical strategies for teaching algebra, geometry, and quantitative problem-solving. Educators will learn how to bridge student gaps in mathematical logic, effectively utilize the GED digital calculator, and simplify complex word problems for diverse learners.

  This practical session equips GED math teachers with targeted strategies to address common student gaps in algebra, quantitative reasoning, and data interpretation. Focused on high-impact instruction, the workshop explores methods for simplifying complex concepts, integrating the GED formula sheet and calculator effectively, and designing lessons that build both procedural fluency and conceptual understanding for adult learners.

  This professional development workshop focuses on the core practices needed for the GED Science test. Teachers will explore engaging methods to teach scientific reasoning, data analysis from graphs and experiments, and the integration of life, physical, and Earth science concepts. The session emphasizes inquiry-based activities and literacy strategies to help students comprehend complex scientific texts and evidence-based questions.

  This CPD module provides educators with frameworks to make U.S. History, Civics, Economics, and Geography interconnected and relevant. Participants will examine strategies for helping students analyze primary sources, understand governmental systems, and interpret charts and texts on civic issues. The focus is on moving beyond memorization to developing the critical thinking skills required for the GED exam and informed citizenship.

• Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA)

  This skills-focused workshop addresses the unique demands of the GED RLA test.
